King Fahad National Library participates in the third edition of Jeddah International Book Fair, which was launched on Thursday (14 December 2017) under the theme "The Book of Civilization". It was under the patronage of the Advisor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques the Prince of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal. The participation includes a collection of library publications, and a collection of old photographs in the National Archives of Historical Images in the Library. They cover different periods, and various places, recounting the history of the old city of Jeddah, in addition to the presentation of a video in the library pavilion of the Kingdom's Oral History Program, which is an interview with several writers and intellectuals representing the first generation in the Kingdom. Also, a presentation of the rare books purchased by the library, and a direct presentation of the restoration of manuscripts and historical documents by specialists from the Department of Restoration and Sterilization in the library, in one corner of its pavilion at the exhibition.
The exhibition will last for 11 days and will feature about 500 publishers from 42 countries around the world, carrying more than 3.5 million books. The exhibition's map includes the establishment of more than 50 cultural events including film performances, poetry evenings, cultural seminars and art exhibitions.
